2.8M IOPS per one HBA ? Yes. Avago SAS 9302-16e can do.   Date: Thursday, 03 December 2015
Avago SAS 9302-16e In the autumn of this year, Avago company (new owner of LSI) introduced today’s most powerful HBA SAS on the market. It is without doubt Avago SAS 9302-16e, which is based on two IOC LSI3008 chips,  allowing operation via four external mini-SAS HD SFF8644 ports up to 1024 SAS or SATA devices. In fact, one might think, what for a new card? After all, a similar solution was already available before. Avago card SAS 9300-16e with a similar design (2xLSI3008) is available for some time on the market and reaches up to 2 million IOPS. It appeared that bottleneck for two LSI 3008 chips is not a limitation of the IOC, but the PCI-Express 3.0 eight lanes bandwidth. So Avago doubled the number of PCI Express 3.0 lines to x16, and thereby, a new SAS 9302-16e card was invented with an even more powerful data processing. For a new card, you can now place orders. The first deliveries are planned before the end of the year.
